Today is my Mom (and her twin brother's) 64th birthday. When my mother was younger, she used to teasingly sing the Beatles to her father. I've heard that snippet enough to always think of her and him whenever I hear the song. Tonight I took my mother out to dinner and we sang a little of it to ourselves. We split a lovely meal in the Short North and then hit Jeni's for ice cream. Mom had a hot fudge sundae - her favorite. It was a beautiful evening, and I think a successful birthday dinner. Happy birthday Mom! I'm glad we could celebrate together today. Thank you for being you.
When I get older losing my hair,
Many years from now,
Will you still be sending me a valentine
Birthday greetings bottle of wine?
If I'd been out till quarter to three
Would you lock the door,
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I'm sixty-four?
...
Send me a postcard, drop me a line,
Stating point of view.
Indicate precisely what you mean to say
Yours sincerely, Wasting Away.
Give me your answer, fill in a form
Mine for evermore
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I'm sixty-four?
